Truck drivers and other workers for Taylor Swift’s current tour were recently greeted with an amazing surprise. This week, the pop star gave a $100k bonus to the workers who have been assisting her on the ‘Eras Tour.’
In the final days of Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour, the 33-year-old singer-songwriter delivered a life-changing bonus to workers and thanked them for supporting her on one of the biggest tours in recent memory. In an interview with CNN, Michael Scherkenbach, founder and CEO of Denver, Colorado-based Shomotion trucking company told the news company that his drivers were flabbergasted after the meeting in which the checks were dispersed. Scherkenbach said that Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, led a meeting in Los Angeles before one of the final shows and handed out the checks and a handwritten note for each truck worker. He said some of the workers couldn’t believe that amount given was $100,000, as a normal bonus amount is typically $5,000 to $10,000. He also said that the large amount of money is “life-changing.” “Look, fair wage doesn’t put you in a position to buy a home. But this opens up that possibility.”, quoted Scherkenbach to CNN.
The estimates for the total gross amount for the tour should exceed $1.4 billion, once the tour wraps up its European leg. The tour also added new dates for North America, including several dates in Canada. When all is done, Swift will have performed at least 100 shows on the tour. The tour has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike, with Taylor giving fans three hours worth of her greatest hits each night. The latest project from Swift, Midnights, sold over 1.5 million copies in the first week, helping Taylor set records and continue her status as the biggest name in pop music. Once the tour leaves the US, her legacy will continue to be cemented in astronomical ways that fans and critics can only imagine.
