On September 2nd, 2023, Orlando screamed their lungs out to David Kushner’s record-breaking ballads at The Beacham. The deafening welcome of the crowd perfectly translated the excitement of the fans, being described by David himself as the loudest he has heard yet on tour.

With a guitar in his hands and an impressive vocal range, the 22 year-old singer and songwriter dominates the stage with a big smile on his face, leaving no room for nerves to take over his ability to deliver an implacable performance despite the packed house. Included on the setlist were viral tracks like ‘Daylight’, ‘Burn’ and ‘Mr. Forgettable’, but not only that, he also gave the fans a little taste of what’s in store for the future by surprising the crowd with a few unreleased songs, quickly transforming the loud atmosphere into an expectant silence and leaving fans with a feeling of wanting more.

David’s performance goes beyond having a strong stage presence. The atmosphere he creates for the concert and the vulnerability he shows allows the public to relate to every word he sings. Opening up about sensitive topics like anxiety and the loss of loved ones, David tells us a little bit of his own story with every new song. Introducing ‘Mr. Forgettable’ with the touching story of his grandfather who suffers from Alzheimer’s made me relate to his words on a whole other level, having gone through the same thing with my own grandfather. These personal moments shared on stage make the live performance of an already emotional and well written song transcend to a higher level.

The amount of love and appreciation David has for his fans is evident in every “thank you” and every smile, but the artist goes beyond that by screaming “I love you’s” back at the end of a song or even surprising the public with free merch, thrown from the stage. With a unique voice and the power to share his most vulnerable experiences through his songs, watching David’s performance live was an incredible reminder of why I am in love with music in the first place.

There’s no doubt in my mind that David Kushner is a star and will only grow from here. His already sold-out USA tour is only the beginning of a beautiful career and I’m so very excited to see where the future takes him. I most certainly will be in the front row of every show I can to witness the bloom of this amazing artist.
