Show Recap

Attending Tori Kelly’s “Purple Skies” tour was a night to remember, filled with soul, powerful vocals, and a deep connection with the audience. From the moment she took the stage, it was clear that Tori had come to Charlotte, NC to deliver more than just a concert; it was an experience that felt both personal and larger than life.

Tori’s setlist was a perfect blend of her hits, like “Should’ve Been Us” and “Nobody Love,” mixed with new material from her self-titled album, TORI. Songs like “Shelter” stood out, showing the range and emotion that Tori is known for. The set opened wit the upbeat track “Thing You Do”, which has been one of my favorite songs from her since it released earlier this year.

One of the best parts of the night was how Tori interacted with us, the fans. She even came down off of the stage to allow to fans to sing vocals with her. The show was more than just a performance, she made the whole experience feel intimate, like we were part of something special together.

The opener, Maisy Kay, was an amazing surprise. She opened the show with her hauntingly beautiful voice and unique sound, setting the tone perfectly for what was to come. She sang an amazing cover of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” and the crowd absolutely loved it. I had never seen her perform live before, but her talent and stage presence were undeniable. It’s easy to see why she’s getting noticed, and I’m excited to see where her career goes from here.

The stage setup was simple yet stunning. Purple and blue lights bathed the stage for much of the show, creating a dreamy vibe that matched the mood of Tori’s music. It was the kind of atmosphere that pulled you in and made you feel like you were a part of something much bigger, something almost magical.

I have to say, hearing Tori perform the tracks from her latest album, TORI, live was a highlight of the night. The album, released in April 2024, is a beautiful mix of pop and R&B that shows off her growth as an artist. Songs like “Alive If I Die” hit differently in person—they’re even more powerful and moving when you see the emotion she pours into them right there on stage.

This concert was everything I hoped it would be and more. Tori Kelly has a way of making you feel like you’re part of her story, like her songs are written just for you. Along with Maisy Kay, she crafted an evening that was both intimate and electrifying. If you have a chance to catch the “Purple Skies” tour, I highly recommend it. It’s an unforgettable experience that any fan of pop and R&B won’t want to miss.
