It was a night filled with high-voltage heavy metal as the ‘Machine Killer Tour’ made its stop in Greensboro, North Carolina. Four bands were on the bill, Lines of Loyalty, dope, and co-headliners Sevendust and Static-X.

Kicking off the show was Lines of Loyalty, a Wisconsin trio comprised of vocalist/guitarist Glenn Nubz Morrison, bassist/vocalist/keyboards Redo Lanni, and drummer Brayden Pike. Even though they played a brief set they did a fantastic job preparing the audience for the night to come. Next up was dope. Since forming in New York in 1997, the group has seven full-length studio albums with “Blood Money Part Zer0 being their newest album, released in February. It was rumored for a while then later confirmed that lead singer and frontman Edsel Dope is the man behind the masked “Xero” in Static-X.

Then started the main event, Sevendust and Static-X. Going first was Atlanta-based Sevendust. Releasing their self-titled debut album in 1997, it was slow to success, only selling 310 copies in the first week. However, touring led to three gold certified albums, a Grammy Nomination, and millions of albums sold around the world. The group playing a lengthy 15 song setlist, rocking out to hits such as “Denial” and “Enemy”. The Group consists of vocalist Lajon Witherspoon, lead guitarist Clint Lowery, bassist Vince Hornsby, rhythm guitarist John Connolly, and drummer Morgan Rose.

Closing out the night was Static-X, playing an impressive 16 song set. The industrial metal band for almost 30 years since forming in Los Angeles, California. The lineup consists of bassist Tony Campos, guitarist Koichi Fukuda, drummer Ken Jay, and lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Edsel Dope who goes by the alias “Xer0”. Xer0 is a tribute to founding lead singer Wayne Static, who passed away in 2014. Static was most recognized for his hairstyle, gelled straight up which allegedly took forty five minutes to complete the look. Now Xer0 is a robot counterpart to Static donning the famous hair style. With 8 full length studio albums and an award for “Favorite Metal Album” in 2020, the band lives on in Statics honor. The Machine Killer tour is just starting so you still have plenty of opportunities to see them out there on this tour, you will not be disappointed!
