Live Review

There’s something fitting about seeing Parmalee perform so far from home while sounding completely at ease. The North Carolina natives rolled into Foxborough, Massachusetts for their February stop at Six String Grill & Stage, turning an intimate venue into a full-on country party that felt equal parts barroom singalong and radio-ready showcase.

Parmalee leaned into what they do best: effortless chemistry. Built around brothers Matt and Scott Thomas, the band’s tight-knit dynamic is the backbone of their live show. That familiarity translates into a performance that feels totally natural.

Massachusetts-born country singer Gavin Marengi (above) kicked things off with a tight, high-energy set that immediately grabbed the Foxborough crowd’s attention. By the end, he had the room fully engaged and primed for Parmalee to take it the rest of the way.

The setlist balanced their chart-toppers with fan favorites. Songs like “Take My Name” and “Just the Way” landed with polished confidence, while “Carolina” served as the emotional centerpiece of the night. Even hundreds of miles from the band’s home state, that song still felt like a shared hometown moment.

Parmalee kept the energy steady without burning out the room too early, letting the show build naturally into its biggest moments. Between songs, the band kept things conversational which helped maintain that small-venue intimacy.

Matt Thomas delivered a strong and consistent performance, while allowing for a bit of grit that gave the live versions character. The band stayed tight throughout with a cohesive sound that emphasized the songs themselves.

Ultimately, their blend of country and pop-rock hooks created a night that felt both easygoing and memorable. In a genre often dominated by solo stars, Parmalee continues to prove that a band with real history and unity can still command a room.
