I have to start this review by saying that I have been dying to see Marianas Trench live since I was little. I grew up listening to their music on the radio, and my mom and I bonded over it. I was lucky enough to not only see the show but also bring my mom along to enjoy it with me. I knew this was going to be such an incredible show.
The “Force of Nature” tour just wrapped up in December 2024, but Niagara was lucky enough to get a one off date after the tour was over. Marianas Trench is a Canadian band that has been making music since 2001 and consists of members Josh Ramsey (lead vocal and guitar), Matt Webb (guitar), Mike Ayley (bass), and Ian Casselman (drums).
The show consisted of a fantastic selection of songs from their latest album, “Haven”, as well as classics from early albums “Astoria” and “Ever After”. The band is known for their harmonies, and I was absolutely blown away by how incredible they sounded live. They are a band that sounds identical live to their recorded tracks.
Not only was the music and sound fantastic, but the stage design was awesome. It was clearly inspired by the art and themes from their recent album “Haven”; there were storm clouds, lightning, rain, and grass all around the stage, which really set the atmosphere!!
My favourite part of the show, aside from hearing some amazing music, was that Josh Ramsey actually went into the crowd and walked/ danced through all the seats at the back and front to make sure everyone had some sort of close encounter with him!
The Marianas Trench guys truly showed a mastery in live performances, and I think they are a perfect example of a band that loves making music and performing. I may say this a lot, but I really mean it; if you can see Marianas Trench live…. DO IT! I will 100% be seeing them again whenever they are playing near me.
