The Freaks on Parade Tour made a thunderous stop in Charlotte, delivering a wild night of rock and metal mayhem. With an electrifying lineup featuring Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Ministry, and Filter the show brought together a fusion of theatrics, heavy riffs, and fan-favorite hits. From explosive stage setups to spine-chilling performances, the night was a celebration of everything loud and outrageous, leaving fans in awe. Here’s a breakdown of the unforgettable moments from the Charlotte stop of the Freaks on Parade Tour.

Filter was an amazing way to kick the night off. Opening their set with Head Like A Hole, playing over the speakers, was a nice nod to Richard Patrick’s earlier days in Nine Inch Nails but also served to help boost their first song into second gear. The high energy of the song You Walk Away felt like a shockwave through the crowd and laid out the groundwork for the entire night.

When Ministry made their way to the stage, the feeling was very confident and methodical, letting the audience know how the night was going to go for their allotted time that evening. They started by telling us the first three songs will be off of their new album and the rest will be their older works. Once music kicked off, Ministry sounded like a wall of sound. Each crack of the snare were jolts of lightning, and the chants felt primal, with everyone joining in unison, which really contrasted well with the electronic/industrial backbone Ministry is known for.

With death bells ringing out and the lights lowered, Alice Cooper started his performance with what he’s known for: eye-catching and mesmerizing. With his blend of a rock show and the theater, his story-telling with his back catalog serving as the soundtrack is otherworldly. When No More Mr. Nice Guy rang out, it felt like we were jolted back to 1973. Alice Cooper doesn’t show any signs of slowing down, and even with 60 years under his belt, you can still see the light and excitement in his eyes. Alice proves time and time again he’s a master of his craft.

Rob Zombie is nothing short of masterclass in showmanship and showing himself as a shock artist. His performance, out of the gate, was monstrous; with Zombie standing on a huge monument that read ZOMBIE, it felt as if you were inside one of his films. The chaos and spectacle Zombie brings, makes you feel the grit and strength of his catalog. He started the night with the song Demon Speeding, and the high octane is felt from the start. You can see where Zombie has his influences of old horror films and aesthetics on his shoulder; he wants you to be in this world he directed, and you want to be there beside him.

Every time I’ve seen him, he has always delivered. The balance between nonstop aggression in his music and almost circus awe is infectious, and it’s something that, if he continues on, I will make sure I can catch and be apart of every chance I get.
